Page 75

Task 7: Perform a Build/Apply
Perform the type of Build/Apply appropriate to your needs:
•
Initialization Build/Apply – If you received the same software as your current configuration,
synchronize the new DSM/SCM configuration against the current configuration by performing
an Initialization Build/Apply.
At this point, DSM/SCM does not recognize the SYSnn currently running on your system.
Perform an Initialization Build/Apply to synchronize the databases and to get a snapshot of
the system before the software is actually placed in the TSVs. For more information, see
Chapter 13: Performing an Initialization Build/Apply
If you perform an Initialization Build/Apply, you must resolve or accepting any discrepancies
before activating the new software, as described in
“Resolving or Accepting Discrepancies”
.
•
Full (or Primary) Build/Apply – If you received new software and it does not matter what was
on your current operating system, perform a full Build/Apply, as described in
“Primary Build and Apply Process”
Task 8: Activate the New Software on the Target System
After the software is placed in the appropriate TSVs, you need to activate the new software. Run
ZPHIRNM to rename the old software files to fabricated names while the new software is renamed
to the appropriate real name. See
Chapter 10: “Renaming Product Files Using ZPHIRNM”
