Page 131: To the host system, Section : “receive the snapshot manually from disk, Or tape
During the Build/Apply process, a snapshot is generated on the target system after the software
is applied. If the following conditions are met, snapshot is automatically sent to the host system
and received it into the host system database:
•
The host and target systems are Expand-connected.
•
The Use Network Connection flag on the target system is set to “Y.”
•
If you do a Build only, or the Apply process did not complete.
In a non-Expand environment, or if the Use Network Connection flag on the target system is set to
“N,” you must
“Transfer the Snapshot to the Host System” (page 131)
and then
Manually From Disk or Tape” (page 131)
, as described in this section.
NOTE:
You can transfer the snapshot before or after you activate the new software, but HP
recommends that you do it before.
You can also use NonStop Software Essentials to generate a snapshot at any time, independent
of the Build/Apply processes and receive the snapshot into the host database as soon as it is
transferred so it is immediately available if you prepare another revision, back out a revision, or
perform other maintenance tasks. For more information, see the NonStop Software Essentials online
help.
Transfer the Snapshot to the Host System
To transfer the snapshot to the host system:
•
For networked systems not using an Expand connection, the snapshot is written to a disk
volume on the target system. The operator can use a file-transfer program to send it to the host
system disk volume, where the Planner can then

.
•
For non-networked systems, the snapshot is written to a magnetic tape. The snapshot on tape
is physically transferred to the host system disk volume, where the Planner can then
“Receive the Snapshot Manually From Disk or Tape”
..
