14 Managing Requests

Submitting a Request
You initiate tasks in NonStop Software Essentials by submitting a request. (See
Software Essentials Requests” (page 141)
for examples of those task requests.) In the request, you
set up, schedule, and submit a batch process. You can run multiple requests concurrently and check
the status of requests.
If you exit NonStop Software Essentials while a request is running, the request continues to run.
You can reenter NonStop Software Essentials while the request is running or after it finishes. When
you are logged on to NonStop Software Essentials, it displays status messages for requests.

Scheduling a Request
For your convenience, you can schedule requests to run immediately (now) or later, at a specified
date and time. In the Build/Apply request example below, you can specify that the build start now
(immediately upon clicking the Submit button) or a later specified time; for the Apply task, your
options are “As soon as the build completes” or a later specified time after the build has completed.
