When you attempt to install software on a logical target that already has a software
configuration revision in the “New” state, you are presented with the opportunity to edit that
new revision. In the example below, “\SCUBA DEFAULT” is the logical target and “4” is the
existing “New” software configuration revision available to be edited.

How to Use the Create/Edit Interface

The interface used is the same whether you are creating a new software configuration revision or
editing an existing one. There must be at least one software package in the software archive in
order to create a new revision.

NOTE:

If an Initialize button appears instead of the Build/Apply button, the target has not yet

been initialized (see

Initialize Target

).

Using the Source (Left) Pane

The left (or source) pane of the window displays the contents of the software package or
configuration revision to be used as a source from which you can copy some or all SPRs to the
new revision being created or edited in the right pane. The source pane is pre-populated with the
most recently received software package in the archive. You can change the source from which
to copy by expanding the “Software in Archive” or “Configuration Revisions” trees located to the
left of the source pane – but NOT in the Host Tree Pane in the main NonStop Software Essentials
window.
