Specifying Product Attributes
If the A0CINFO file already exists, DSM/SCM initializes all data fields with the current data. To
change or specify product attributes in an A0CINFO file, enter values in data fields in the
CNFGINFO dialog boxes:
Description
Attribute
Required; descriptive name of the product, up to 20 characters; for example, COBOL.
Product Name
Required; the product number and version ID, up to 8 characters. For example, T9199D20
indicates an HP product. (Although no checking is done, customers should not use product
numbers beginning with characters reserved by HP, such as T and S.)
Product Version
Optional; up to 45 characters describing the product’s use.
Product Description
Name of the supplier of the product, up to 31 characters. The value you specify for Product
Vendor is placed in the DSMSCM.INI file on your PC. That value becomes the default, so
you do not need to reenter the vendor name each time you create an A0CINFO file.
Product Vendor
Required; the category of the product. A product is either a base version or an update.
Choose one of:
DSV Category
IPM update
Base Version
Indicates that the software is an update to the
product, containing only changed files. Might
Default; indicates that the software is a base
version containing a complete set of files.
not be a complete set of files and can be
added to a base version along with other SPRs
Includes a complete set of product files and
therefore replaces all previous base versions
and SPR udpates applied to that product.
Optional, used only if the product is a base version; a 3-character code that specifies the
last SPR applied, if any, to the base version; for example, AAB. For consistency, use the
Base IPM Version
same 3-character convention used by HP. This software can be copied to (COPY-TO) a
configuration without requiring the product version to be in the configuration.
Required if the DSV is an SPR update; 3-character code that specifies the ID of the SPR; for
example, AAB. For consistency, customers should use the same 3-character convention used
by HP.
IPM code
Type of processor on which this set of files for the product runs: TNS, TNS/R, TNS/E, or
TNS and TNS/R. Default is TNS and TNS/R for NonStop K-series systems and NonStop
S-series systems, and TNS/E for HP Integrity NonStop systems.
Processor support
Required if enabled in the dialog box; subvolume on the target system where this product’s
files are placed when software is applied. Used as a default for any files with no assigned
Target default destination
subvolume
TSV. Up to eight characters, with the first character a letter. Although no checking is done,
do not use subvolume names beginning with letters reserved by HP, such as X, Y, or Z.
You must specify ZOSSUTL as the target default destination subvolume for every pax file in
a product to be managed by DSM/SCM.

Product dependency lists
Specifying Product Dependencies
A product’s A0CINFO file optionally contains two dependency lists:
•
The Requires list contains the product number, version ID, and SPR code of other product SPRs
that must accompany the current product in the new software revision.
•
The Replaces list contains the product number, version ID, and SPR code of earlier versions
of the product that are superseded by this version. For example, this list is used when an SPR
for a product contains fixes from a previous SPR and therefore supersedes the previous SPR.
DSM/SCM uses these lists to produce the Required IPMs and Replaced IPMs reports. (See
Chapter 16: “Generating and Viewing Reports”
.) Although DSM/SCM does not perform
dependency checking, the planner can use these reports to help determine product dependencies
when planning new software revisions.
To specify product dependency information, add or remove products in the Requires and Replaces
lists.
