Enabling Component Tracing in NonStop Software Essentials

Tracing for certain DSM/SCM server components can be enabled from NonStop Software Essentials
in order to obtain additional information about server operations, such as in order to investigate
a problem. Tracing for the following servers is enabled on a per-request basis, from the Options
menu, under Server Tracing:

Trace Input Supervisor – performs activities like Receive Software and Receive Snapshot.

Trace Configuration Builder – performs the Build activity of a Build/Apply request.

Trace Target Activator – performs target activities like Apply, Backout, Verify Database, and
Create Snapshot.

Trace Utility Server – performs activities like running reports and exporting files.

Each of these options can be enabled or disabled individually; a check mark to the left of the
option name indicates the trace options that are enabled for the current NonStop Software Essentials
session. These selections do not persist across sessions; thus, when a new session is started, all
menu items will once again be deselected (disabled) by default.

NOTE:

NonStop Software Essentials does not support tracing for the Object Manager or Schedule

Manager servers.
