Target Maintenance Actions

Available actions under the “Target Maintenance” heading on the Configuration Revisions page
depend on the number of targets selected in the Configuration Revisions window, and include:

Add Target

Add Like Target

Modify Target

Delete Target

Initialize Target

Add Target

You can add multiple

logical targets

to an existing host system or

physical target

(also called a

target system). You can initialize a new logical target for a target system with an existing profile
and the configuration associated with that profile, then change the profile information and product
list as needed. When adding more logical targets:

You cannot maintain more than six logical targets on a single physical or target system.

Each logical target requires its own $SYSTEM volume and a unique alternate volume name.
The primary volume name for each logical target must be $SYSTEM, and the alternate volume
name for each logical target must be different to differentiate between the disks.

To switch from one logical target to another, you must perform a system load.

You cannot perform an initialization Build/Apply if it was previously performed on any other
logical target created on that particular physical target system.

NOTE:

If you use multiple logical targets on a system, always run DSM/SCM from the first

ZDSMSCM subvolume installed on the target system. To ensure the correct installation files are
used, this ZDSMSCM subvolume must also be the one from which INITENV was run.

To add a logical target on the host using NonStop Software Essentials, click the Add button, which
is enabled on the Configuration Revisions page only when no targets are selected in the table.
