The NonStop Software Management Environment

You can use NonStop Software Essentials in conjunction with DSM/SCM software from a central
host system to manage software on distributed target systems. You access the NonStop Software
Essentials interface either directly from a Central Management Server (CMS) on which HP SIM
and the NonStop Software Essentials client are installed (identified as “HP SIM CMS” in

Figure 1-1

) or by connecting remotely to that CMS from another PC or console. This section describes

concepts you need to understand before you set up the NonStop software management environment.
