CE Batch Setup Requirements
For workstation application and batch portable application communica-
tion, your system must meet these requirements:
1.
IntelliTrack Workstation Application: You must have the Intelli-
Track workstation application installed and running before configuring
Remote Data Access (RDA). For more information about installing the
workstation application, please refer to your Quick Start Guide. For
more information about configuring Remote Data Access, please refer
to
“Remote Data Access (RDA) Components Setup” on page 241
.
2.
Internet Information Services (IIS): A tool that your handheld device
uses to communicate with the database. IIS is included with Windows
XP, Windows Vista and Windows 2003 Server. IIS must be properly
setup and configured before the SQL Server and the SQL CE databases
will communicate (please refer to
“Remote Data Access (RDA) Compo-
for more information).
Additionally, if you use Window Vista/IIS v7.0, you must turn on IIS
and specific settings BEFORE installing the DMS batch application on
the portable device. Please refer to
“Internet Information Services (IIS)
v7.0 Required Settings” on page 235
.
Important:You must install or turn on IIS BEFORE installing DMS. IIS
will only accept connections if it can locate an active network connection.
If your computer does not have a network adapter, you must install and
configure one or IIS will not work. In addition, if your network card is only
active when connected to a network, then you must connect your network
card to a network or to a hub or switch, even if that hub or switch is not
connected to anything else. Please see your network administrator if you
have questions about the network connection status on your computer.
