Managing QoS Rules
Quality of Service (QoS) is a mechanism that ensures the highest level of performance by establishing
rules for limiting I/O bandwidth and the number of I/O operations per second. QoS is configured
on a virtual volume set basis. Existing virtual volume sets can be used, or a new set can be created
for the purpose of creating a QoS rule to specific volumes in an exported set. For example, suppose
you have four virtual volumes in the virtual volume set VVSet1, exported to the host HostSet1, but
you want to apply a QoS Rule to only two of the volumes in VVSet1. To accomplish this, create a
new virtual volume set, QoS_VVSet in this example, add the two virtual volumes to which you want
to apply the QoS rule, and do not export the new set.
The HP 3PAR Management Console allows you to perform the following QoS actions for virtual
volume sets:
•
Configure QoS settings
•
Clear QoS settings
•
Enable QoS
•
Disable QoS
