Operation

1. Plug the PPG-E135 into any available slot in a WaveExpert mainframe. The mainframe

does not need to be powered down to have the module inserted; but, allow a few seconds
for the instrument to recognize the module.

2. Connect the device under test to the output ports on the front panel of the PPG. Both

outputs of the generator must be terminated into 50 ohm loads during operation in order to
maintain the signal quality. If only one output is connected to the device under test, the
unused output must be terminated using one of the coaxial terminators provided.

3. The module is shipped with connector savers. They should be connected to all of the ports

of the PPG prior to any cables being connected. The connector savers will prevent
inadvertent damage to the module.

4. In most cases, the clock output from the PPG will be needed to trigger the WaveExpert.

Connect the clock output to the clock/prescale connector on the oscilloscope. The clock
output is also active when an external clock is being used.

5. Set the PPG using the channel menu corresponding to the slot into which the module is

plugged.

6. Set the bit rate, pattern, and mark/space ratio, using the controls in the channel menu.
