a. Uncheck the Use Acq. Settings checkbox.
b. Enter the bit rate.
c. Enter the pattern length in UI or bits.
d. Enter the sample density in samples per UI.
8. Press the Jitter button, then check the On checkbox to start jitter measurements.
Serial Data Controls
The Serial Data Analysis dialog contains the basic setup controls for jitter and eye pattern
measurements. The left side of the menu contains the measurement selection controls and signal
source selection. The right side of the menu contains the signal configuration controls.
Mask and Jitter Controls
These controls select the measurement that will be
performed when the On control is checked. The Mask Test
automatically centers the eye on the grid and accumulates
voltage/time samples in a persistence map, which can be
viewed either in gray scale or color format.
Check Scope Setup
The Check Scope Setup control scans the system settings and signal type,
and selects the optimum setup for the most accurate jitter measurements.
The following settings are verified:
• Acquisition mode (must be set to CIS)
• CIS timebase PLL must be set to the “high” setting
• Signal bit rate (must be set in the CIS timebase)
• Timebase setting (must be set so that at least one complete
repetition of the data pattern is captured)
• Automatically sets the samples per UI to 256
For each setting, you are prompted to either skip or fix a setting that is found
to be out of range. Additional choices allow you to fix the current setting, to
fix any other settings without prompting, or to exit from the Check Scope
Setup function altogether.
