ENERAL
DESCRIPTION
The FXS/DPO voice module provides eight, 2-wire foreign exchange station
side supervision voice circuits with full 2 way CLASS
 capabilities. Signaling
modes are configured, on each individual circuit, for 3 distinct foreign exchange
station side signaling modes, FXS, FXS AS and DPO. Any FXS mode of
operation will inherit automatic LS/GS mode switching allowing for Wink
reproduction and forward disconnect capabilities. Each of these circuits can be
used to drive handsets, FXS LS mode, ‘handshake’ with a PBX, FXS GS or AS
modes, or a dial pulse trunk, DPO mode. Up to three FXS/DPO modules can be
installed, thus potentially occupying all 24 DS0s allocated in a single T1
channel.
The system software controls the embedded system operations for the FXS/DPO
Voice Module. The system software detects and controls various signaling
modes. These signaling modes are defined in detail later in this chapter. See the
"Configuration" section of this manual for details how to configure this module.
