ENERAL

DESCRIPTION

The Router Card is installed only in the SHARK™ IAD's router slot. The
MPC860T microprocessor chip mounted on this board is the central processor of
the SHARK™ IAD IAD. It provides all the control functions of the SHARK™
IAD. It has circuit connections to the Cross-Connect module and to the Local
Interface Modules (e.g. the 10BaseT module), and provides the SHARK™
IAD'S Craft Port and 10/100 Fast Ethernet interface. It provides the power-on
configuration for the IAD.
The Router card faceplate has a baud rate select switch for the 9-pin craft
interface connector. It also has the Mod 8 10/100BaseT connector, and four
indicator lights on it.

ERVICE

INTERRUPTION
NOTE

When the Router card is removed from the slot it will not interrupt services that
go from a WAN card to a Voice card, from a WAN card to a LAN card, from a
WAN card to a WAN card, or from a WAN card to a V.35 card.. Any service
using the ethernet port will be interrupted. Upon insertion of the Router card,
all services will be momentarily interrupted as the Router card will issue to
all cards a restart command and will also pass to all cards the configuration
data that the Router card holds.
