verbs

CONFIG commands must start with a command verb: (set, view,
delete).
You can truncate CONFIG verbs to three characters:
(set, vie, del).
CONFIG verbs are not case-sensitive.
You can enter: "SET," "Set," or "set."

The module designations ARE case sensitive. Use the following
exactly as shown to enter each module's node:

Keywords

Keywords are not case-sensitive. You can enter "system,"
"SYSTEM," or "System" as a keyword without changing its
meaning.
Keywords can be abbreviated to the length that they are
differentiated from other keywords. For example, you can reduce the
command
"set ip fether option on"
to "set i fe o on."

Argument
text

Text strings can be as many as 32 characters long, unless otherwise
specified. Special characters are represented using backslash
notation. Text strings may be enclosed in double (") or single (')
quote marks. If the text string includes an embedded space, it must
be enclosed in quotes. Special characters are represented using
backslash notation.

Numbers

Enter numbers as integers..

IP addresses

Enter IP addresses in dotted decimal notation (0 to 255)

If a command is ambiguous or miss-keyed, the command line interface prompts you to enter additional
information.

When you are in CONFIG mode, the command line interface prompt consists of
your current node in the hierarchy and two right angle brackets (>>).

prompt reminds you that you are at the top node of the configurator's

hierarchy. You enter the Router's configurator by typing ROUTER at the top of
the CONFIG node.

prompt reminds you that you are at the top of the router
