Modifying Containers
Reconfiguring a Container’s Type
The
container type
attribute indicates the type of container to
which the existing container is to be changed. You can change an
existing container into one of the following container types:
■
Mirror set
■
Raid-5 set
■
Raid-10 set
■
Stripe set
■
Volume set
In the following example, the
container reconfigure
command with the /stripe switch reconfigures an existing container
to a stripe set.
HPN0> container reconfigure /stripe=TRUE 0
Executing: container reconfigure /stripe=TRUE 0
Adding SCSI Devices to a Container
The
SCSI device
attribute indicates the SCSI devices to be added
to a container. You can add one or more SCSI devices to a container.
This action extends a container. The freespaces from the SCSI
devices you specify are used to reconfigure the container.
In the following example, the
container reconfigure
command adds SCSI device (0,01,0) to container 0.
HPN0> container reconfigure 0 (0,1,0)
Executing container reconfigure 0 (CHANNEL=0, ID=1, LUN=0)
Changing a Container’s Stripe Size
The
stripe size
attribute indicates the size to which a container’s
stripes are to be changed. A stripe can be 8 KB, 16 KB, 32 KB, or 64
KB (kilobytes) in size. For example, you can change the stripe size of
a container from 16KB to 32KB. A large stripe size is faster for
sequential access read-write operations. A small stripe size uses less
backing space and is faster for small random access read-write
operations.
You can specify the stripe size for the following container types:
■
RAID-5 set
