9 Troubleshooting HP P6000 Performance Advisor issues
This chapter discusses the troubleshooting scenarios and error messages in HP P6000 Performance
Advisor.
Troubleshooting scenarios
Following are the troubleshooting scenarios:
Performance data collection failed for a performance object in HP P6000 Performance Advisor
Possible reasons:
•
The performance object state is in a failed state in the HP P6000 Command View instance
that is managing the corresponding storage system
•
The configuration specified for the HP P6000 Performance Data Collector instance that is
accessing the storage system is incorrect
•
The HP P6000 Performance Data Collector service is not active or the server where the HP
P6000 Performance Data Collector instance is installed is not reachable
Solution:
1.
Verify the performance object status in the HP P6000 Command View instance and bring it
back to active state. You can also manually verify the object state using the HP P6000
Performance Data Collector
2.
Verify the current configuration of the HP P6000 Performance Data Collector instance and
make the appropriate changes. For more information, see
“Editing the port number of HP
P6000 Performance Data Collector instances” (page 72)
3.
Verify the status of the HP P6000 Performance Data Collector instance in HP P6000
Performance Advisor. Check if the Connection Status shows as Up under the Performance
Data Collector Settings tab. If the Connection Status is Down, start the HP P6000 Performance
Data Collector service. You can also add a new HP P6000 Performance Data Collector
instance that can access the same storage system. For more information, see
P6000 Performance Data Collector instance” (page 54)
.
4.
Use HP P6000 Performance Data Collector to verify if the storage system is accessible. You
can also verify the storage system connection status in HP P6000 Performance Advisor. For
more information, see
“Viewing the HP P6000 Performance Advisor configuration summary”
5.
Verify the performance data collection status for the storage system. The status is displayed
in the Monitoring Status column in the HP P6000 Performance Advisor Summary window. For
more information, see
“Viewing the HP P6000 Performance Advisor configuration summary”
State data available in HP P6000 Command View and HP P6000 Performance Advisor are different
even after update object state.
Possible reasons:
•
The HP P6000 Command View server is not reachable.
•
The HP P6000 Performance Advisor instance has not triggered the state data update cycle.
Solution:
•
If the above issue is seen during an automatic state data update, do the following:
1.
Verify the configured state data polling interval to know when the next state data update
refresh cycle will begin. The state data polling interval is displayed in the Configure Data
Collection Settings window, see
“Editing monitored settings for a storage system or
