Packet port information table

Packet over SONET (POS) is the serial transmission of data over SONET frames through the use of
Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP). The POS modules allow direct connection to interfaces within SONET.
POS is a transport technology that encapsulates packet data such as an IP datagram directly into
SONET.

The POS modules are available on the Internet Backbone routers and Layer 3 Switches with
redundant management modules.

Read only

The current operational state of the link, which can be one of the
following:

up(1) – The port is ready to pass packets.

down(2) – The port is not ready to pass packets.
