6.3 About the ASPI8XX.SYS Driver
This section describes the characteristics of the
ASPI8XX.SYS
driver
and provides installation instructions.
6.3.1 Features

ASPI8XX.SYS
driver supports these features:

Release of initialization code for smaller run time size

Works with or without SDMS 4.XX Boot ROM (LSI Logic no longer
supports the SDMS 3.XX Boot ROM)

Synchronous negotiation

Wide SCSI

Target Initiated Negotiation (TIN)
•
Full VDS support, including scatter/gather
•
Disconnect/Reselect
•
Adapter exclusion
•
Shared interrupts
•
Single-threaded I/O

DMI NVS (can read device configuration information from NVS when
NVRAM on the host adapter is not present.)

LSI Logic usage of PCI Subsystem ID to control various features and
configuration settings.

Booting from a CD-ROM
•
A 66 MHz PCI bus
•
Up to Ultra160 SCSI (160 Mbytes/s when using Wide SCSI)
including: Parallel Protocol Request (PPR), Double Transition (DT)
data transfers, Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC)
