2.4.3 Positioning the Original on Original Glass
Use the original glass when the original is not suitable for use with the ADF, e.g., when size is incompatible,
or when the original is folded, stapled, torn, or in generally poor condition.

Open the ADF.

Position the original FACE DOWN in the left rear corner, aligning
the edge with the left measuring guide.
Set the original in the same direction as that of the original di-
rection icon displayed on the Copy Screen.
% Set originals in the same direction as that of the original set
direction icon on the screen; otherwise the copy result may
not be satisfactory. Especially when using duplex mode,
Staple, Fold & Staple, Multi Half or Booklet, please pay spe-
cial attention for direction of the original. See page 3-7 for
details.
% With [Image Centering] selected on the Application Screen,
the ADF should be kept open while scanning the original.

Gently close the ADF to prevent the original from shifting on the glass.
2.4.4 Originals for Using Original Glass
Use the original glass when originals and the copy conditions are not suitable for use with the ADF.

*1: B6 w or 5.5 e 8.5 w can be detected instead of A5 w, and 5.5 e 8.5 v can be detected instead of A5 v.
*2: K sizes are available only when enabled in the Administrator Setting on the machine set to use JIS sizes.
Original weight: 6.8 kg or less

- Do not place too heavy originals. Do not also press strongly when thick original is placed. The original
glass may be broken and you may be injured.
