Select Service

→Manual Diagnostics.

To display setup information for the scanner test, click the Scanner Test tab on Manual
Diagnostics.

Set up the test to read a media label from either the current location or a different one.

For the current location, click Current Location.

For a different location, click Position To Coordinate, and then use the Module, Rack,
Section, Column, and Row drop-down lists to select the location coordinates for the target
media. You cannot select options from the Type drop-down list. It indicates the type of
location (for example, Storage or I/E) that you have selected with the other drop-down
lists.

Click Start.

The test completes in a few seconds. If the test succeeds, the barcode number of the scanned
label appears in the Scanned Label box. If the test fails, the library creates a ticket that provides
more information.

7.

To clear the test results, click Reset.

Testing the signals and sensors

Sensors in the library provide information used for calibration and feedback on mechanical
components, such as whether a component is in its home position or whether a cartridge is in the
picker. Display the current state of signals and sensors to determine whether the library sensors
are working properly.

NOTE:

The feature is only available to authorized service personnel.

To test the signals and sensors:

1.

Log on as a service user.

2.

Ensure that you are viewing the physical library. From the View menu, select the name of the
physical library.

3.

Select Service

→Manual Diagnostics.

4.

To display the states of signals and sensors, click the Signal & Sensor tab on Manual
Diagnostics.

5.

To refresh the information to be current, click Refresh.

Testing the picker

The picker rides along the accessor Y-axis and extends forward to grip a cartridge. The picker
Get/Put test determines whether the picker can get a cartridge from a specified slot (storage, I/E
station, or drive) and put it back. You can run this test for a specific slot or a range of lots.

NOTE:

The feature is only available to authorized service personnel.

To test the picker:

1.

Log on as a service user.

2.

Ensure that you are viewing the physical library. From the View menu, select the name of the
physical library.

3.

Select Service

→Manual Diagnostics.

4.

To display setup information for the picker Get/Put test, click the Picker Get/Put tab on Manual
Diagnostics.
