8 Troubleshooting your library
This chapter describes how the library informs you of issues that it detects within its subsystems. It
also provides information about working with events to resolve issues, running verification tests to
check whether the issues have been resolved, interpreting LEDs, and accessing Online Help.
Is the access door closed?
Library operations are taken offline when the access door is opened. If library operations have
stopped, check whether the access door is shut and the Robotics Enabled indicator is steady green.
Testing the accessor
The accessor step test moves the robotics assembly a specified number of millimeters to the right,
to the left, up, or down, depending on your selections.
NOTE:
The feature is only available to authorized service personnel.
To test the accessor:
1.
Log in as a service user.
2.
Ensure that you are viewing the physical library. From the View menu, select the name of the
physical library.
3.
Select Service
→Manual Diagnostics.
4.
On the Accessor Step tab of Manual Diagnostics, set up the test to move the accessor assembly
horizontally (left or right) or vertically (up or down).
•
For a horizontal step test, click Horizontal Axis, then click Left or Right.
•
For a vertical step test, click Vertical Axis, then click Up or Down.
5.
In the Distance in tenths of mm box, specify the number of millimeters that you want the accessor
assembly to move.
You can type a number in the text box or use the arrow buttons to the right of the text box to
select a number. Valid distances are from 0.1 to 100.0 mm.
6.
To begin testing, click Start.
At the end of each self test cycle, the numbers in the Current Cycle, Cycles Passed, and Cycles
Failed text boxes increment.
7.
Click Step. The test completes in a few seconds. The test result appears in the Test Results area
as Success or Failure.
If the test fails, the library creates a ticket that provides more information.
8.
To clear the test results and set the Distance in tenths of mm box to 1.0 (default value), click
Reset.
Testing the scanner
The barcode scanner is a component of the picker assembly. The scanner test determines whether
the scanner can read a media label at either the current location of the picker or the location that
you specify.
NOTE:
The feature is only available to authorized service personnel.
To test the scanner:
1.
Log on as a service user.
2.
Ensure that you are viewing the physical library. From the View menu, select the name of the
physical library.
