Validation Rules
Validation rules are used to assign validation methods to one or more fields. One or
more rules can be assigned to each field.

To define a single field or single table field validation rule, select a single field
(either field or table field) first and then add a single field validation rule. Insert
validation methods for the rule. Possible validation methods are: standard
validation, date validation, or single field script validation. Depending on the type of
the selected field, you automatically create a single field validation rule or a single
table field validation rule.
To define a multi-field or multi-table field, add a multi-field validation rule by
clicking the “Add multi-field rule” button from the Validation Rules toolbar. Add a
multi-field script validation method to the rule and map the fields. Depending on
whether you mapped normal fields or table fields, you automatically create a multi-
field validation rule or a multi-table field validation rule.
X To define a new single field (table) validation rule
1 Select the class. Classification and extraction must already be set up for the
class. All the relevant extraction fields for that class are listed in the Field.

Select Show Validation Rules from the Mode toolbar.

Select a field (either a normal field or a table field).

Click “Add single field rule” from the toolbar to display the Single Field
Validation Rule dialog box.
