Connecting the interface optical fiber
Step1 Insert the SFP module into its corresponding slot.
Step2 Locate the Rx and Tx fiber-optic interfaces on the interface module. Use two fibers to connect the
FIC-1POS to another device: Rx to Tx and Tx to Rx.
Step3 Power on the device and check the LINK LED on the FIC-1POS panel: ON means the Rx link is
present and OFF means the opposite. In the latter case, check the line status.
z
Because invisible laser radiation may be emitted from the aperture of an optical port when no fiber
is connected or the dust cap is removed, do not stare into the open aperture.
z
Replace the dust cap when no fiber is connected to the optical port.

FIC-1CPOS
Introduction
The 1-port channelized SDH/SONET interface module (FIC-1CPOS) provides one
STM-1/OC3-compliant multi-channel interface and supports communication speeds up to 155.52
Mbps.
The FIC-1CPOS supports the switchover of E1 and T1 interface modes.
The FIC-1CPOS communicates with the CPU through the PCI interface to receive and transmit data on
the STM-1 channelized POS interface. It supports:
z
Four types of hot swappable SFP optical interface modules: multi-mode short-haul (1310 nm),
single-mode medium-haul (1310 nm), single-mode long-haul (1310 nm), and single-mode
ultra-long-haul (1550 nm).
z
Clear channel (unframed) E1 or T1
z
Fractional (framed) E1 or T1
z
Up to 256 64 kbps logical channels
