Parameter

Description

SSID

Identifies the SSID that client devices must use to associate with a device.

Broadcast SSID in Beacon

This setting is active when the device is in the Root AP mode. When you broadcast
the SSID, devices that do not specify an SSID can associate to the bridge when it is a
root access point.

Security

Lists the security types.

VLAN

Choose a VLAN setting.

Role in Radio Network

Access Point

Choose Access Point (Root) if the access point is connected to the wired LAN.

Repeater

Choose Repeater (Non-root) if it is not connected to the wired LAN.

Root Bridge

Establishes a link with a non-root bridge.

Non-root Bridge

In this mode, the device establishes a link with a root bridge.

Workgroup Bridge

Specifies that the WAP operates as a workgroup bridge connected other Cisco access
points to an Ethernet LAN network through an Ethernet hub or switch.

Universal Workgroup Bridge

Specifies that the WAP operates as a workgroup bridge connecting any other access
points to an Ethernet LAN network through an Ethernet hub or switch.

Scanner

Specifies that the access point operates only as a radio scanner and does not accept
associations from client devices.

Spectrum

A wireless spectrum consists of electromagnetic radiation and frequency bands. A
spectrum gives visibility at the RF physical layer, the RF spectrum, that is the actual
backbone of any Wi-Fi deployment.

Optimize Radio Network for

Use this setting to choose either preconfigured settings for the access point radio or
customized settings for the access point radio.
