11.7 Class 3 (connected) messaging server
Ethernet/IP Adapter implementation of the Maestro device supports registration of
custom objects (Adaptor Tags) for processing by Maestro Commands and Program
interpreters. Adapter Tags use CIP data Read/Write table services for data transfer
between the scanner (Rockwell device) and the adapter (Maestro device). The adapter in
this case has a passive role and only sends responses to the scanner’s requests.
11.7.1 User interface to create communication objects
Maestro device functionality allows for receiving unconnected messages with client
requests from Rockwell device and sending responses. To use it have to create Ethernet/IP
Adapter Tags with a same names as they defines on Rockwell device side.
To do it ELMO Studio gives the following user interface:
1. In the Workspace window select “EIP View” page.
2. Use the context menu to “Add Adapter Tag” as it is shown Figure
11-20.
3. The following dialog will be open (Fig. 11-19).
Figure 11-19: Add Adapter Tag dialog box
4. Fill in the Adapter Tag parameters: Name, Type, Dimension (see section 11.5.1.1
User interface to create communication objects). The maximum Adapter Tag size is
500 bytes: a Tag can neither include more than 125 DINT (or REAL) members nor
more than 125 INT members.
5. Press “OK” button for adding new Tag to Maestro Workspace.
