Breakaway

Routing multiple sources, on different distinct levels, to a destination. (It is not possible to mix sources on the
same level.)

Chop

Chop switches the destination between its current source and the preset source

Control point

A port (Ethernet or serial) on the host computer.

Control system

The software that runs on the system controller.

Current
configuration

The configuration you are editing.

Dst or DST

Destination

Free Source

A source, usually “black” or “silence” that can be routed to a destination to free the source previously routed to
that destination.

GPI

General Purpose Interface. (The term is occasionally used to mean GPI input.)

(1) Several control panels have displays. A display can show a fixed number of entries from poten-
tially large lists, usually 8 entries at a time. A page is an 8-entry segment of a list. Lists can be sal-
vos, destinations, levels, etc.

(2) Some control panel s have several sets of button functions. For example, the NV9605 have 4
sets of button functions. Each set is called a page.

Panel, GUI, and Salvo Editor (a previous edition of configuration software, still in use)

PIN

Personal Identification Number

Rack Units. A standard measure or size for frames (1.75 inches).
