Adding and Removing Physical Levels (Devices)
The physical levels, or devices, associated with a tieline can be changed at any time. If adding a
device, connections to that device must be created. However, connections to the still existing
device remain intact. If removing a device all previous connections to that device are removed.
This “breaks” the previously configured tieline and all operators using that tieline will no longer be
able to route successfully. In short, when you choose to add a device you must create the new con-
nections to the new device. If you remove a device, you must create new connections to replace the
ones removed with the old device.
Physical levels are changed using the ‘Tieline’ page, accessed through the ‘Configuration’ pane.
How to Change a Tieline Physical Level

2 From the Navigation area, select the ‘Configuration’ pane and then ‘Tielines’. The ‘Tielines’
page displays, as shown in Figure 16-15. All tielines currently defined in the system are listed.
To narrow the list, enter the first characters of the tieline’s name in the ‘Name Filter’ field. The
list is automatically reduced to display only tielines matching that character string.
