11. Control Panels
Adding a Control Panel
Destination
Protect
All modes
Sets or removes a “protect” on current
destination device. The protect can only be
removed at the control panel that originally set
the protect, or by a control panel that has ‘Force
Release’ enabled. A “P” indicates a “protect” on
the display.
Free Source
All modes
Defines a phantom device that can be used to
release or “free” devices on the data (control)
level. A free source is also used with tielines to
free the tieline for others to use. The free source
is configured in the Level Sets page.

Global
Navigate
All modes
The pages assigned to this button can be
globally applied to every control panel with the
global navigate button. Updates are also global.
Hold
All modes
Retains preset information after Take is pressed.
Useful when routing the same source to many
destinations.
Information
All modes
Panel mode is changed to display system
messages. This button toggles between current
control panel mode and the info screen. A “+”
sign indicates messages are present. The Info
button lights when messages are available for
viewing.
Level Map
All modes
Cross-connects levels (typically in the same
physical router). Typically used to shuffle audio
channels, for example, to connect AES1/2 to
AES3/4. When an Info button is configured,
you can view current cross-connects. The
‘Level’ mode is cancelled when the next normal
‘Take ‘is performed involving the selected
devices. (The Level Map button becomes
enabled only when there is a valid preset.)
Menu
All modes
Brings up a menu that provides access to a
variety of local control panel options. The
button is required if you want access to system
menus and “local” salvos.
Name Set
Toggle
All modes
Toggles between the default name set and the
system name set.
Navigate
All modes
The ‘Edit Navigate Button’ dialog appears in
which you define a button page that displays
when the button is pressed. See Step 5.

Page Down
All modes
Allows scrolling through all data in a list (such
as a category) using the Page Up and Page
Down buttons. The function toggles on/off with
each press of the Scroll button. (A
recommended button.)

Panel Lock
All modes
Sets or removes a “lock” on the current control
panel. The lock can only be removed at the
control panel that originally set the lock, or by a
control panel that has ‘Force Release’ enabled.
An “L” indicates a “lock” on the display.
