11. Control Panels
Adding a Control Panel
Select from the following button options:
Button
Modes
Description
Related Topic
Broadcast
All modes
On the data (control) level, assigns one
controlling device (master) to multiple
controlled devices (slaves). Useful in
dubbing and editing applications. Status is
only reported from the first assigned slave.
Chop
All modes
When supported by the router, the button is a
toggle that enables and disables rapid
switching of the selected destination device
between the current source and the preset
source. Used to test system timing.
Default State
All modes
Returns the control panel to its pre-defined
state.
Destination
Limited XY only Assigns a destination device to this control
panel.

Destination Lock All but MD
Sets or removes a “lock” on current
destination device.
Destination
Protect
All but MD
Sets or removes a “protect” on current
destination device.
Destination Shift Limited XY only Allows the operator to select the second
destination device mapped to a destination
button. Two sets of destination devices can
be programmed. The button toggles between
the “unshifted” set and the “shifted” set.
Free Source
All but MD
Defines a phantom device that can be used to
release or “free” devices on the data (control)
level. A free source is also used with tielines
to free the tieline for others to use. The free
source is configured in the Level Sets page.

Menu
All modes
Brings up a menu that provides access to a
variety of local control panel options. The
button is required if you want access to
system menus and “local” salvos.
Name Set Toggle All modes
Toggles between the default name set and the
system name set.
Panel Lock
Limited XY only Prevents accidental changes to the control
panel settings. When the control panel is
locked, the button array becomes blank
except for the Panel Lock button.
Previous Source
All but MD
Immediately restores the previously selected
source to the current destination (similar to
an “undo” button).
Salvo
All modes
Places the control panel in ‘Salvo’ mode. The
button is required if you want access to
“system” salvos.
When you assign ‘Salvo’ to a button, a drop-
down list appears in which you select a salvo
ID.
