Creating a Tieline

tieline. The tielines are added in name only and without physical levels. To add details, locate
the tieline and perform steps 5 through 10 as described in this procedure. (See

5 Select devices for the tieline configuration. Devices are listed in the ‘Phys Levels’ section:

In the ‘Upstream’ section, check the check box next to the source router. The router displays as
a green figure in the ‘Graph’ field, as shown in Figure 16-4. Only one upstream device may be
selected.
In the ‘Downstream’ section, check the check box next to the destination device. Multiple des-
tination devices may be selected. The device displays as an amber figure in the ‘Graph’ field:

Field

Description

Tieline Name

Enter a name for the tieline. Be sure to use a unique name that is descriptive. The
name is limited to 8 characters. Do not use punctuation marks or symbols.

Tieline Description

(Optional) Enter a brief description of the tieline.

Tieline Cost

Enter a numeric value for the cost of the tieline. The lower the number, the less

expensive the cost of using the route mapped in the tieline. (See

Costs

on page

457.) This lets operators quickly see which route is the most cost-effective to use
when more than one option is available.
