Managing Control Points
Control points (also called control ports) are serial or Ethernet ports in the NV9000 server through
which you connect routers, panels, and other devices. You can connect other networks too. Control
points are added, updated and removed using the ‘Control Points’ table accessed through the
‘Views’ pane.
Master control’s control points can be viewed, updated or deleted as needed. Control points for
master control processors are managed the exact same way control points are managed for routers.
For more information on managing control points, see
Deleting Master Controls
Master control processors can be deleted from the at NV9000-SE system at any time. It is recom-
mended that master control processor be deleted offline. This ensures that all ramifications of the
deletion are reviewed and necessary configuration changes made before you go “live.”
NV9000-SE uses a relational database. This means that if a record is referenced by another record,
the deletion will not be allowed. If there are dependences, when the deletion is attempted, NV9000-
SE informs you of the dependencies. Delete the dependencies first, then delete the originally
selected record.
Master control processors can be deleted using the ‘Routers’ page accessed through the ‘Configura-
tion’ pane or using the ‘Routers’ table accessed through the ‘Views’ pane.
How to Delete a Router using the ‘Routers’ Page
1 Launch NV9000-SE. (See
Launching and Exiting the Application
2 From the navigation area, select the ‘Configuration’ pane and then ‘Routers’. The ‘Routers’
page displays, as shown in Figure 12-13.
To narrow the list, enter the first characters of the master control processor’s name in the ‘Name
Filter’ field. The list is automatically reduced to display only master control processors match-
ing that character string.
