B. Control Panels
NV9660
Modes of operation
There are 3 primary modes of operation:
• In source selection mode, you assign sources to the mixer’s input channels. Source categories
and device names are pre-configured using the NV9000 Router Control System.
In source selection mode, the selection buttons turn green.
• In gain control mode, you control the gain of individual input channels and the mixer’s output
gain. You can also set selected channels to unity.
In gain control mode, the selection buttons turn amber.
• In balance control mode, you control the balance of individual channels and the mixer’s output
gain. You can also “center” the balance of selected channels.
In balance selection mode, the selection buttons turn blue.
Basic Function
This functional diagram illustrates the basic function of the NV9660 mixer.
There are four identical mixer functions on a NV7512 Quad Mixer Output card, and the NV9660
panel controls one of these mixers. Please note:
• The NV9660 panel can select 8 stereo sources as mixer inputs.
• Each source uses gain and balance processing, and then all of the left channels are summed
—
and all of the right channels are summed.
• These summed signals are processed through a gain stage (Master Volume) and are then output.
• If the output mode is “mono mix-down,” left and right are summed and divided by two
—
and
this combined signal is copied onto output L and output R.
Additional Panel Features
The LCD buttons are number 1–14 from left to right. A selection button is always in one of the fol-
lowing states:
• Unselected
—
dimly lit. If a channel selection button is unselected, the input is not part of the
mix.
• Selected
—
brightly lit. If a channel selection button is selected, the input is included in the mix,
and functions can be performed on it (e.g., set to unity gain, center balance).
