About Salvos
A Salvo is a set of multiple commands grouped under one command, similar to a “macro” in a
computer program. These custom command sets can perform a variety of functions, for example:
• Set all the monitors in a monitor wall to black.
• Assign bars and tone to all record devices in all edit suites.
There are two types of salvos:
• “System” salvos
—
System salvos are available to all control panels and all users on the system
as long as a ‘Salvo’ button has been added to the panel. Up to 2,048 system salvos can be
defined in a configuration.
• “Local” salvos
—
Local salvos are programmed by a user at a panel and are available only to
that specific control panel. They are also saved as part of a control panel’s local file. Up to 512
local salvos can be programmed. The user programs a local salvo “live”
—
using a record func-
tion
—
by doing takes and other operations.
Creating a Salvo
A salvo can be added and configured at any time. It is recommended that salvos be added to your
system off-line. That ensures that all settings are correct before you go “live”. NV9000-SE saves all
configuration changes to the database. Once changes are saved, there is no “undo” function; the
configuration is permanently altered. To implement saved configuration changes, the changes must
be written to the NV9000 system controller for dispersal to connected routers. For information on
implementing changes, see
Implementing Configuration Changes
Salvos can be added using a wizard, page or table. Each performs specific tasks:
• ‘Add Salvo’ wizard (accessed through the ‘Tasks’ pane)
—
A step-by-step guide to add a single
salvo. Opens the ‘Salvo Details’ page through which salvos are created.
• ‘Salvos’ page (accessed through the ‘Configuration’ pane)
—
A list of existing salvos to which
a new salvo can be added. Opens the ‘Salvo Details’ page through which salvos are created.
• ‘Salvos’ table
—
A list of existing salvos. A salvo name, description and file path can be added
using this table, but the actions that compose the salvo cannot. Salvo actions are added using
the ‘Salvo Details’ page accessed through the ‘Salvos’ page.
To quickly add several salvos, the salvo name and description can be added in the ‘Add Salvo’ wiz-
ard and then
Finish
clicked. This adds a salvo file and clears all fields so that another salvo can be
added immediately. However, no actions that compose the salvo are added. Details for the salvo
can be added a later date using the ‘Salvos’ page accessed through the ‘Configuration’ pane.
