buttons. These buttons scroll through pages of destinations

or through pages of salvos. The scroll buttons page through levels if you have more levels
defined than fit on the LCD buttons.

• Keypad and category area

24 buttons, 10 of which are have fixed functions. These are either

numeric buttons (0–9) or “category” buttons, depending on context. The other 14 buttons can
be assigned any function, including additional categories and suffixes.

The 10 numeric/category buttons are arranged like a telephone keypad:

See

NV9616

on page 292 for information about using the ‘NV9616’ configuration page. Note also

that the NV9608 control panel is nearly identical to the NV9616, but it has 8 LCD button modules,
not 16.

Modes of Operation

The panel operates in either an X-Y (single source/destination) mode or a multi-destination mode.
A function button (XY/MD) can toggle between the modes. The NV9616 can also be configured as
X-Y only, or multi-destination only.

The primary modes of operation are:

• X-Y Mode

full control of all router levels. Choose a destination, optionally choose desired

breakaway levels, choose a source, and press Take to complete a desired route. In this mode, the
LCD buttons function as a display and show status for up to 16 levels. The scroll buttons reveal
other “pages” of levels if there are more than 16.

• Multi-Destination Mode

lets you control multiple destinations. The panel displays up to 16

destinations at a time. You can scroll through 16-destination pages using the

and

Down

buttons. Select a destination, choose a source, and repeat for all desired routes. Then

press Take.

Takes are “all level,” and breakaways cannot be performed. The “all level” take matches as
many of the destination levels as possible to the available source levels, using the destination’s
“primary” level as the reference.

Secondary modes include:

• Salvo Mode

pressing a Salvo button places the NV9616 in “Salvo” mode. The LCD buttons

function as a display, showing the names of up to 16 salvos at a time. Additional salvos (if any)
are viewable by pressing the Page Up or Page Down buttons.

Note

If breakaway takes are performed in X-Y mode, the destination status in
MD mode will be reverse text (on the LCD buttons).

Note

The destination’s “primary” level is defined as the virtual level with the
lowest ID number

as configured in the virtual level list.
