GeoSteer supports the following NMEA message formats:
• GGA
• VTG
• GSV
• GSA
• GLL
• ZDA
• RMC
• XTE
GeoSteer supports the following data rates:
• Off
• 0.1 Hz
• 0.2 Hz
• 1 Hz
• 5 Hz
• 10 Hz
Messages Configuration
To change the configuration of any of the NMEA Message follow the procedure below:
1. Use the Gray Up/Down Arrow buttons or directly select the NMEA Message that is to be modified.
2. Press the Edit button.
3. Using the Gray Up/Down Arrow buttons or directly select the desired data rate.

4. For GGA Messages only, an additional setting needs to be set. One of the values of the GGA message is the GPS Quality
value. The GPS Quality tells 3
rd
party devices the correction source (SPS, DGPS, or RTK) that was used to calculate the
NMEA position.
Some 3
rd
party devices require that this value be set to DGPS (2) in order to be used. Other 3
rd
party devices require a RTK
Fixed (4) position to be used. GeoSteer can be configured to send out two versions of the GGA Message. They are:
• Current – The GGA Message sends the GPS Status value based on the actual correction source that calculated it. 3
rd
Party devices will receive a value of 1, 2, 4, or 5 depending on what the true correction source is.
• Legacy – The GGA Message sends the GPS Status value as 1 or 2 only. Even if the position is calculated by RTK,
the GPS Status will be sent as 2.
Refer to Table 4-2 for more information. This table shows what GPS Quality value is sent out in the GGA message when
the GeoSteer is in the different accuracy modes.
