4.1. Overview
IP routing is one of the most fundamental functions of cOS Core. Any IP packet flowing through a
Clavister Security Gateway will be subjected to at least one routing decision at some point in
time, and properly setting up routing is crucial for the system to function as expected.
cOS Core offers support for the following types of routing mechanisms:

Static routing
•
Dynamic routing
•
Virtual routing
Additionally, cOS Core supports route monitoring to achieve route and link redundancy with
fail-over capability.
