HA Cluster Licensing
In a cOS Core High Availability Cluster, two identical licenses must be purchased, one for the
master and one for the slave unit. Both licenses must include the ability to allow HA clustering.
Important: Use the correct license for the correct hardware unit
In any installation with more than one Clavister Security Gateway, it is important to
always use the correct license file for the correct security gateway.
If licenses are not matched correctly to the hardware, complex administrative problems
can arise later which can cause delays in rectifying hardware problems.
Licensing with VMware
When cOS Core runs with VMware as a virtual Clavister Security Gateway, it requires a special
license from Clavister in order to allow virtualization. The required parameter in the license is the
number of virtual Ethernet interfaces allowed.
A cOS Core license for VMware is not obtained in the same way as a non-VMware installation
which is described above. Instead the license can only be downloaded from the Clavister website
and it requires the MAC address of one of the virtual Ethernet interfaces. Once downloaded, the
license is installed in the same way as described above, using the Web Interface or SCP.
