Replace fuel level sender.

Verify fuel quantity
level in tank.
Fuel level gauge reads
EMPTY while operating.
Fill fuel tank.
With fuel level sender
disconnected, fuel gauge
should read empty.
Disconnect fuel level sender
and check resistance across
fuel sender connector.
If OK
If OK
Replace dash panel.
Fuel Level

Full = 31 ohms
One-Half = 101 ohms
Empty = 255 ohms
With jumper wire across
harness connector, wires
[D3] (GRY) and
[SG1] (BLK) fuel level
gauge should read full.
If OK
Replace fuel level sender.
If OK
If OK
Check front dash panel
pin 5, wire [D3] (GRY) for
open to ground.
Before troubleshooting any
electrical circuit, ALWAYS begin
by checking the following:
1. Fuses.
2. Battery for proper charge.
3. All connections relating to
circuit are clean and tight.
4. All grounding straps are intact
and securely fastened, refer to
Section 9.1.12, “General
Overview (Vehicle Ground
Strap Locations).”
5. Check dash panel bulbs for
proper function.
