5. Slowly turn the radiator cap (7), located in the upper
radiator hose, to the first stop and allow any
pressure to escape. Remove the radiator cap. Place
a hose (8) onto the drip leg of the petcock, located at
the base of the radiator, to channel the drained
coolant into a container. Open the radiator
petcock (9) and allow the coolant to drain into the
funnel. Transfer the coolant into a properly labeled
container. Dispose of properly. Close the radiator
petcock when finished and then remove the
hose (8).
6. Remove the upper radiator hose (10) by loosening
the upper and lower hose clamps (11) attaching the
radiator hose to the thermostat housing (12).
7. Remove three capscrews (13) securing the fan
guard (14).
WARNING:
Hot coolant can cause
severe burns or eye injury. NEVER remove the
radiator cap while the engine is hot. The cool-
ing system is under pressure. Wear protective
clothing and safety glasses.
