Engine Oil Pressure Warning Indicator Troubleshooting

Repair engine
component.
Disconnect wire
[D6A] (BRN) from oil
pressure switch and
verify that switch
contact is open.
Not OK
If OK
Check engine for
oil pressure.
If
OK
Check connections at oil
pressure switch and dash
panel.
Repair connections
as needed.
Disconnect oil pressure
switch at harness. Turn
ignition ON and check for
grounded circuit. If indicator
light is still on, check wire
[D6A] (BRN). Refer to
pages 9.48 or 9.50
Engine oil pressure warning
indicator stays
ON while operating.
Replace dash panel.
If OK

Replace oil
pressure switch.

Before troubleshooting any
electrical circuit, ALWAYS begin
by checking the following:
1. Fuses.
2. Battery for proper charge.
3. All connections relating to
circuit are clean and tight.
4. All grounding straps are intact
and securely fastened, refer to
Section 9.1.12, “General
Overview (Vehicle Ground
Strap Locations).”
5. Check dash panel bulbs for
proper function.
