User configuration

User overview

This module allows you to configure local users, user groups, and guests.

Local user

A local user is an account configured on the device. It is uniquely identified by the username and has a
set of user attributes, such as the password, user type, service type, and authorization attribute. For a user

to pass local authentication, you must add a local user for the user on the device. For more information

about local authentication, see "

AAA configuration

."

User group

A user group consists of a group of local users and has a set of user attributes. You can configure user
attributes for a user group to implement centralized management of user attributes for the local users in

the group. All local users in a user group inherit the user attributes of the group, but if you configure user

attributes for a local user, the settings of the local user take precedence over the settings for the user

group.
By default, every newly added local user belongs to a user group named system, which is automatically

created by the system.

Guest

A guest is a local user for specific applications. If Portal or LAN users need to access the network

temporarily, you can establish a guest account for them and control access of the users as required.

Configuring a local user

1.

Select Authentication > Users from the navigation tree.
The local user management page appears, displaying information about all local users, including
common users, security log administrator, guest administrator, and guests.

NOTE:

On the Local User tab, you can modify a guest user, but the user type changes to another one after your
modification.
