Problem Solving
• The control panel display messages and the printed Error/Warning
Page(s) will advise the user of problems and in some cases advise how
to correct them.
• The TEST PRINT set that is run with the UTILITIES MENU prints out all
the current default settings, the status of the Controller, the status of the
Network Interface Card, and a list of the most recent errors encountered
during printer operation.
• In the case of copy quality problems, if the TEST PRINT copies are good
but the job copies are not, there is a problem with the DDS setup or the
job files.
When a problem occurs, take the following actions:
• Observe the Control Panel displays, note any Status Codes, then
refer to the Xerox 8825/8830 System Introduction section as a map
to identify the correct manual to use.
• Refer to the ERROR/WARNING PAGE, if printed, for causes of the
problem. The ‘soft errors’ listed will be data or file errors from the
workstation, that will require the sender to make corrections. If
these problems persist, refer to the appropriate software
documentation for your workstation. The ‘hard errors’ listed will
require use of this document or other documents in the system
binder. Refer to the Xerox 8825/8830 System Introduction as a map
for hard system errors.
• Refer to the DIAGNOSTIC PAGE if enabled for hints as to what
needs attention for job problems.
