Setting the Media Size Option
Media Size Purpose
This option sets the default media size. This default is used when the job
does not specify the media size. A value of ANY evokes the automatic paper
size detection feature. In this case, if the image is “close” to a standard size
as described by the OVERSIZE MARGIN and UNDERSIZE MARGIN
parameters, the standard media size is selected. Otherwise, the best fitting
roll is selected and the image is cut to length including the justification and
margin values.
When ANY ISO, ANY ANSI, or ANY ARCH is chosen, the same procedure is
used as in ANY except that the possible standard sizes are restricted to the
specified family. When ANY ROLL is selected, the best fitting roll is selected
and sheet sizes are not considered.
Range: ANY, ANY ISO, ANY ANSI, ANY ARCH, ANY ROLL, ANSI A, B, C,
D, E; ARCH A, B, C, D, E, 30; ISO A0, A1, A2, A3, A4, B1, B2, B3,
B4; ROLL 297MM, 353MM, 420MM, 500MM, 594MM, 620MM,
707MM, 750MM, 841MM, 860MM, 880MM, 900MM; ROLL 11 IN, 12
IN, 17 IN, 18 IN, 22 IN, 24 IN, 30 IN, 34 IN, 36 IN
Default: ANY
Note: The Media Size ANY selection is not allowed when AUTO is
selected for Page Scaling.
Refer to the Media Standard Size List in this section for dimensions.
This image placement parameter is applied in the following priority order:
• Instructions embedded within a print job’s native data format are applied
with highest priority.
• Parameters specified through job control instructions (such as HP-PJL)
associated with the print job are applied next.
• Printer default parameters are applied to all remaining unspecified
parameters.
When the file format is HPGL or HPGL2 this option is the same as the
PAPER SIZE DETECT parameter.
