Setting The Plot Nesting Option

PURPOSE

The purpose of Plot Nesting is to efficiently group the printing of plots on a
single sheet of media to eliminate media waste. Plot Nesting enables one or
more plots from one or more user jobs to be arranged on the widest roll of
printer-installed media in an efficient, non-overlapping manner. The location
of each plot is automatically determined by the Controller, with plots nested
side-by-side until the next incoming plot cannot fit into the remaining roll
width. This initiates printing of the nested page, then a single cut of the roll,
and the beginning of the composition of the next nested page.

Note that print driver specified, document page sizes must be under 18” in
width to be included in the plot nest. Plots will be placed on the output media
after all requested image transformation operations have been applied (either
from the application’s print driver, or as set on the Printer Control Panel).
Test prints, banner pages, diagnostic pages, and error pages will be included
in the nest. The following parameters are associated with Plot Nesting.

PARAMETERS ASSOCIATED WITH PLOT NESTING

Mode Enable: ON or OFF, with a default of OFF. When enabled, this
parameter directs the printer to nest incoming plots.

Exclusive Enable: ON or OFF, with a default of OFF. When enabled, this
parameter directs the printer to build nests exclusively from plots coming from
a single job source. Plots from other job sources will not be intermixed with
the plots in this exclusive nest.

Timeout (Seconds): This user-adjustable parameter specifies the maximum
idle time allowed after processing a job before printing and cutting a nested
page.

Margin (in mm): This user-adjustable parameter specifies the size of the
margin spacing to be used between nested plots.

Maximum Length (in cm): This user-adjustable parameter specifies the
maximum length of a plot to be included in the printed nest. Plots exceeding
this length will be printed separately.
