ADDITIONAL NOTES REGARDING PLOT NESTING
For more information on the enabling of Plot Nesting features from your
workstation and the effects on printed output, see the Xerox 8825/8830
Windows 95/98 Print Driver User Guide, the Xerox 8825/8830 Windows NT
4.0 Print Driver User Guide, the Xerox 8825/8830 ADI Print Driver User
Guide, and the Xerox 8825/8830 Document Submission Tool User Manual.
Regarding Job Canceling (from the Printer Control Panel or your desktop), if
the cancel request is made before the job is processed, the job will be
canceled in the same way that a non-plot-nested job is canceled. Since the
job’s plots may be placed on a nest with plots from other jobs, after
processing has started only entire physical pages (i.e. an entire nest page)
can be canceled. Any plots of a canceled job that reside on a nest with plots
from other non-canceled jobs will not be canceled. Any plots of a canceled
job that reside on a nest by themselves will be canceled.
Printing Parameters that can be applied to Nested Jobs include:
• Multiple Copy – Plot nesting will accommodate a multiple copy
specification in the user job. If the job requests multiple copies of a
single page or an uncollated set, each copy is placed on the nest as if it
was an independent plot. If the job requests multiple copies of a collated
set, the job will be treated as if Nesting Exclusive is enabled (i.e. all the
plots in the set will be printed on a set of nested pages exclusive to this
job). The set of nested pages will be printed once for each copy
requested.
• Job Priority – In a queue of jobs, before processing, a job’s priority affects
the order that the job is processed into the nest, just as the priority affects
the order of non-plot-nested printing. In other words, higher priority jobs
get processed first. Once processing has begun, however, jobs will be
nested in an uninterrupted manner, so that a higher priority job will not be
inserted into the nest breaking the printed continuity of a lower priority
job.
• Justification/Margins – applies to the logical page.
• Labels – Positioning will be relative to the logical page.
• Mirror – Applies to the logical page.
• Page Scaling (auto and numeric) – applies to the logical page; may
cause the page to become “non-nestable,” if the short edge of the scaled
logical page is greater than 18 inches.
• Mismatch – A plot nesting page will never mismatch unless it runs out of
media while printing, or the media size/type is changed after the nest has
started to be built.
• Undersize/Oversize Sheet Capture Percentages – If “ANY” is the paper
size selected, the Controller will check the undersize/oversize percentage
settings (as detailed under “Processing Defaults” in this manual) and nest
the printed page accordingly.
