Glossary
Pane
A viewing area in a primary window that contains one or more controls. The
AppCenter interface is divided into three panes, which are used to display the channel
monitors, control applications, and manage clips. To activate a pane, click on it. Only
one pane is active at a time.
Program
A clip generated from a playlist. A program includes all the media in the playlist, but
does not include any event that breaks the flow of playout such as a pauses between
events.
Protocol
A convention for data transmission that defines timing, control, format, and data
transmission.
RS-422
A standard interface, 9-pin serial port connector used with some remote protocol
applications; it supports multipoint connections.
SD
Standard Definition video.
shared storage
K2 Media Client models with shared storage access RAID protected media storage
drives that are part of a K2 Storage System (SAN). The K2 Storage System incorporates
one or more RAID chassis, such as K2 Lx0 RAID. See also direct-connect storage,
internal storage.
Status Bar
Displays status and error messages.
Subclip
A clip created by referencing a portion of media from another clip.
Timecode Striping
Striping a timecode allows you to overwrite the existing timecode track for a loaded
clip.
Time Dome
A multi-function indicator that displays either record progress only, or available
storage and record progress. It also indicates when the record channel is in Loop
Record mode.
Transfer Monitor
A tool in AppCenter that monitors media transfers and file imports and exports.
Up Conversion
Conversion of an SD (standard definition) video format to an HD (high definition)
video format.
