Product Description
The K2 Media Client is a cost-effective media platform that incorporates IT and
storage technologies to deliver a networked solution to facilities for ingest, playout,
and media asset management. It is a comprehensive platform that provides a suite of
user applications, system tools, and the largest range of third-party interactivity in the
industry.
System Overview
The K2 Media Client comes in different models that offer choices between Standard
Definition (SD) or High Definition (HD) video format, bidirectional or fixed
channels, internal or external storage.
The table below describes the main attributes of the K2 Media Client models.
For a more detailed overview of available formats, see the K2 Media Client System
Guide. For a more detailed overview of the different types of shared storage available,
see the K2 Storage System Instruction Manual.
There are many different models of K2 Media Client. For a full list of all the available
K2 Media Client models, see the K2 Media Client System Guide.
About remote operation and monitoring
The K2 Media Client is designed as a “headless” unit. This means that there is no need
to connect a keyboard, monitor, and mouse directly to the K2 system, as ongoing
operation, configuration, and monitoring can be accomplished from a PC on the
network. You can lock the K2 Media Client locally, as you would normally lock a
Windows computer, but still access the K2 Media Client from a Control Point PC.
From this Control Point PC, you can use channels from different K2 Media Clients in
one channel suite.
The software application that supports this headless functionality is called AppCenter.
It is included with the K2 Media Client. For more information, refer to
