6.7.3 Redundancy Operations
This section describes what happens during shelf manager switchover, takeover, failover, and
when a shelf manager is inserted or extracted.
6.7.3.1 Shelf Manger Switchover
During a switchover, the active and the standby shelf manager change their roles. The system
manager initiates and controls this process on the active shelf manager. A switchover is, for
example, necessary when the active shelf manager needs to be extracted. Since only the
standby shelf manager can be extracted, a switchover needs to take place.
