PEM Specifications
The following sections outline the power input and the power filtering.
6.5.3.1
Power Input
The external power is connected to the PEM via dual M6, isolated power studs designed to
connect with two-hole lugs like Thomas & Betts P/N 256-30695-1225 or P/N 256-30695-1298
or similar ones. The studs are sized to support a maximum of 90A when derated for a 30ºC
temperature rise.
The PEM is designed to operate from -36V to -75V and can withstand 100V transients for at
least 100ms, 200V transients for at least 5μs and 1500V fast transients. A breaker (depending
on the model) is utilized to provide shelf protection. The breaker is equipped with finger guards
and a push-to-reset feature to avoid accidental tripping.
6.5.3.2
Power Filtering
The PEM is equipped with input power filtering. The filter is designed to support 50A.
The filter provides transient voltage immunity conforming to IEC 1000-4-4 Part 4 for
electronical fast transient/burst immunity, test level 1 in accordance with NEBS generic EMC
requirements.
6.6
Cooling Subsystem
The shelf manager provides cooling management to the AdvancedTCA shelf to keep the shelf
cool under normal operation conditions. The shelf manager adjusts the blower levels to adapt
to the changing conditions of the shelf elements or environment.
The Centellis 4100 provides fault tolerant cooling to front mounted AdvancedTCA blades and
to rear transition modules based on four front maintainable intelligent blower trays with one
blower per tray.
